Greece – A Honeymoon Destination for Lovers of Beaches and Culture

When you are at the stage of choosing and planning your honeymoon you need to make sure that both you and your new partner are both going to enjoy the experience. You may both like the exact same kind of break or holiday, but more often than not even the most well matched of couples have differing interests. Planning your honeymoon well in advance is crucial to making sure that you book a honeymoon that you can both enjoy equally – but choosing somewhere perfect is tough.

Whilst Greece is a popular holiday destination it is sometimes unfairly missed out with regards to honeymooning couple. With this is mind I humbly present the argument that Greece is one of the finest destinations for newly married couples with differing tastes. Not only does it have the Mediterranean climate and the stretches of uninterrupted beautiful beaches but it offers historical and exciting places to visit.

Honeymoon in Athens

The capital of Greece and steeped in the kind of classical history that other European cities can only dream of. If you are after sun it is perfect for beach life during May to September but has mild winters if you have a winter wedding planned. Combine the interests of both you and your partner for the perfect memorable honeymoon.

Places to visit in Athens; National Library of Greece, National Archaeological Museum, Temple of Olympian Zeus, National Gardens, Mount Lycabettus, Syntagma Square and many many more that are too numerous to mention.

Honeymoon in Rhodes

If you want historical cultural diversity and history to be part of your honeymoon then Rhodes is the perfect choice, Because of its placement near to Africa, the Middle East and Europe it enjoys a cultural diversity that is not always present in other major European cities. If you and your new partner have any interest in history and how it affects culture then Rhodes should make your shortlist of honeymoon destinations.

Honeymoon in Thessaloniki

Whenever you compile a list of places that you may want to visit on your honeymoon it is always good to throw a wildcard in there and Greece is no exception. The Greek honeymooning wildcard is Thessaloniki – one that I am sure was probably not on anyone’s list. Although it is the second largest city in Greece it is usually all but ignored by newly married couples, a shame as it offers some of the finest sites of all the major Greek cities. With some of the most beautiful Greek architecture it is one of the wildcards that you need to add to your list.

Places to visit in Thessaloniki; Olympion Theater in Aristotelous Square, Thessaloniki Science Center and Technology Museum, Thessaloniki’s old market, Hagios Demetrios and the White Tower.

Greece can offer a little bit of everything for those couples that have just been married. If you want a little bit more from your honeymoon than sand margaritas then Greece could be the choice for you.
