ABOUT DALLAS’ HISTORIC WEST END

The historic West End is Dallas’ premier entertainment district in the heart of Downtown. The area is home to 25+ restaurants and bars offering highly acclaimed eats & drinks from award winning steaks & seafood to fine Mexican cuisine to world famous chicken salad sandwiches, the West End has it all.

Intermixed among the restaurants and bars are the Dallas World Aquarium, Sixth Floor Museum, Dallas Holocaust Museum, The “Old Red” Museum, Dallas Segway Tours, horse drawn carriage rides, internationally renowned Mambo Café and House of Blues.

The West End is experiencing a re-birth and time has brought the West End back to the forefront of local entertainment destinations for both North Texans and visitors alike with increase in the number of public events in the area and a campaign to bring more conventions to Dallas.

The 55-acre West End Historic District is the center of tourist activity, featuring the Sixth Floor Museum and Wild Bill’s Western Store.

Take a carriage ride thru the area or check out the many historical sites within walking distance. Stand on the Grassy Knoll. Visit the Sixth Floor Museum.

Stop by “Old Red”, the famous courthouse that is home to the Dallas Tourist Information Center.

Crow Collection of Asian Art

M-Line Trolley Service
The historic M-Line Streetcar is FREE!

The M-Line Streetcar offers you a ride down McKinney Avenue, within walking distance of the Dallas Museum of Art.

Whether you’re eating lunch, shopping, browsing art or making a bus or rail connection, the M-Line takes you there!

M-Line service operates 7 days a week every 15 minutes during peak and lunch hours, every half hour off-peak hours and weekends between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Saturdays, and 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.

To connect to DART Rail, buy a DART Day Pass for $3.00 from the Ticket Vending Machine at any station.
