Why Lanzarote Is Perfect for Catching Some Winter Sun
With daytime temperatures that rarely drop below eighteen degrees Celsius, golden sand and a range of fantastic hotels, laid-back Lanzarote provides the perfect winter getaway.
Breakfast in the Sun
If you fancy swapping grey skies and winter woollies for breakfast in the sunshine, followed by a dip in the pool or a paddle in the sea, there’s no better choice than Lanzarote.
Its temperate climate means Lanzarote is spring-like all year round, so anyone in need of a sunshine fix during the cold dark months will find few places as reliably warm and sunny.

Fabulous Beaches
For many, the favourite of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote is a starkly beautiful island. Beach-lovers can enjoy the island’s beaches and secluded bays, where the clear Atlantic waters lap the golden sands. The island’s position in the Atlantic Ocean also makes it a great destination for water sports. Swimming, snorkelling and diving are great ways to spend the days and the island’s trade winds provide ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing and sailing. You may also like to take a boat trip during your holiday and if you’re lucky you might just see a school of dolphins while you’re out on the water.
Attractions
Measuring only around 40 miles from north to south, and thirteen miles from west to east, Lanzarote is wonderfully compact and fun to explore, especially in a hire car. As well as rest and relaxation by the pool or on the beach, Lanzarote holidays provide visitors with a chance to get close to one of the island’s many volcanoes. A visit to the bizarre moonlike landscape of Lanzarote’s volcanic terrain in the national parks is a great day out. As well as marvelling at the reds, ochres and blacks, visitors can have fun pouring water into a magma chamber and creating their own geyser.
The cosmopolitan and historical capital, Arrecife, provides another enjoyable day out, as does a trip to the Jameos del Agua caves, which are considered among the most interesting cave systems in the world.
Choose from Three Resorts
Visitors can choose from three great main resorts. Those looking for the liveliest nightlife will be most at home at Puerto del Carmen, in the southeast, which has the best selection of bars and nightclubs. Couples, families and anyone looking for more low-key restaurants, cafes and bars, meanwhile, will enjoy the great facilities at Costa Teguise, on the eastern side, as well as Playa Blanca, which is on Lanzarote’s southern tip.
